First of all, thank you and well done to all who contributed images to last month’s ‘Red’ project. It’s really encouraging to see all the enthusiasm. Although I’ve not had chance to comment on every picture, I do actually look at them all. Please, please, make sure you give some feedback – good or bad – to others’ work.

If you’re new to these projects, you can submit images for critique, based on a monthly project theme. If you have been on one of our workshops, please use the StreetSnappers Alumni group on Facebook, If you’ve not been on a workshop, please upload your images to our open Facebook group.

So, the theme for November will be ‘contrasts’. You should be looking for contradictions, juxtapositions or contrasts to produce witty images of life on the streets; they needn’t be overtly ‘funny’ – just witty.

Before submitting your picture, be self-critical. Ask yourself questions such as ‘Why does this picture exist?’ ‘Is it art?’ ‘Is it funny?’ Is it a great composition?’ ‘Does it tell a story?’. Your picture should ideally tick at least one of these boxes.

There’s a prize of a free place on our next Critique Evening in January for the picture I consider to be the best!

Happy snapping, and I look forward to seeing the results!
