Gloves for street photography?

The heading above ends with a question mark because I’m constantly being asked what are the best gloves for street photography and, until now, it’s been much more of a question than an answer. Having tried many of the available options over the years, I’ve never really found anything that works well for me. That all changed recently when I found Vallerret.

Based in Norway, I think it’s fair to assume that Vallerret knows a lot about cold hands. It also knows about photography as the company specialises in making gloves for photographers and they have developed a good range of products.

I find this version, the ‘Urbex’ to be just perfect for street photography. The tips for the index fingers and thumbs peel back and are held in place by small magnets and it works really well. The outers are made from premium leather and the lining is as warm as toast and the palms and fingers give good grippage so that the camera is being held securely. I’m quite circumspect about recommending specific products but when something really stands out I’m happy to personally endorse it.

The lovely people at Vallerret are offering a 10% discount to readers of the Street Photography Blog and you can view and order your gloves here - don’t forget to add the discount code STREETSNAPPERS10 at checkout.
