Goodbye birmingham - see you in 2024!
Well, that’s it for another year at the Photography Show at the Birmingham NEC. The big news for show fans is that there will be no event next year and the show will return in March 2024.
Having come under a lot of pressure from exhibitors (including me), the organisers have made the decision to return to a spring show (the September date was related to the pandemic situation). In my view, the March shows were always better attended and somehow more fun.
This year we had our usual stand adjacent to the Fujifilm stand; Alex was there again to help out and we had a blast. As always happens at the show, we saw lots of old friends and made plenty of new ones. I gave three talks (one of them with an audience of 148!) and did a book signing event on the Rocky Nook stand (they are one of my two publishers).
This was quite an important show for us because we were launching our new brand (new logo and colour scheme) and new website - which was built on the Squarespace platform by the way.
It was great to have two new books to launch at the show - the ‘Street Photography Pocket Guide’ (published by Rocky Nook) and ‘Street Photography Workshop’ (Ammonite). Both are available as signed copies in my bookshop here. I still have to pinch myself when I see the five books I’ve written on the table in front of me.
I also launched some new workshops, including a 1-day workshop in Brighton and a 3-day monochrome workshop in Venice in November 2023.
So, thanks to everyone who came along to say hello, watch a talk, buy a book or sign up for a workshop. You all helped make it a great show for us and we can’t wait to see you again in 2024.
