Lisbon street photography workshops in 2023

I’m running two street photography workshops in Lisbon this year - in May and September.

Lisbon is possibly my favourite city for street shooting - it has everything: amazing light, old & new architecture, a charming old town, eccentricity, a great climate, lots of art and culture, traces of a bygone age, strong links with South America, lovely people, bags of character . . . I could go on forever!

For the street photographer there’s lots of variety, whatever style of street photography you like to pursue. My two-day workshops start with a ‘get to know you’ supper at a lovely outdoor restaurant near the river on the Friday evening, followed by two days shooting. We’ll explore some amazing areas including Alfama, Mouraria, Chiado and Bairro Alto, with plenty of breaks to re-hydrate and get into the shade.

For the 2023 workshop season I’ve incorporated some new structured exercises, each designed to develop a specific street photography skill. You’ll be encouraged to work on your own project which will help you come away with a tangible body of work.

You’ll need to arrange your own flights and accommodation (I prefer to do it this way because everyone has different budgets and tastes). Most budget airlines fly to Lisbon frequently and there is an abundance of quality accommodation (we usually stay in an Airbnb apartment, which is great value and gives us masses of space). I know the city well and I’m happy to advise you on your travel plans.

I still have places in May and September - please see here for full details and to book your spot.
